RABBI LAWRENCE RIGAL z"l

I was immensely saddened by the news of Lawrence Rigal's death in his 82nd year. During his ministry at South London he made many friends. He was particularly adept at working with, and inspiring, the younger generation, and the uncomplicated vision of Liberal Judaism that he expounded found a ready acceptance amongst many of our members. He made no claim to intellectual eminence and he was persona non grata in Savile Row, but his sincerity and openness made his stay with us cordial and constructive. Those of us who were in the congregation at that time will recall his stay with great affection. We learned a lot from him. We send our deepest condolences to his wife Kay, his two sons, Gideon and Daniel, and all the Rigal family.
